USMNT Soccer Roster for 2024 Summer Olympics Unveiled in Dramatic Video by Marko Mitrović

On Monday, the United States men’s national soccer team revealed its roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics through a video narrated by head coach Marko Mitrović. The Olympic competition for Team USA begins on July 24 with a match against France, followed by group stage matches against New Zealand on July 27 and Guinea on July 30.

The men’s Olympic roster consists of 18 players from 15 different teams, with nine MLS clubs represented. These clubs include Columbus Crew, Philadelphia Union, FC Cincinnati, Atlanta United FC, Nashville SC, Inter Miami CF, Orlando City SC, Seattle Sounders FC, and Sporting Kansas City. The team utilized its three overage spots for players over 23 on Walker Zimmerman, Miles Robinson, and Djordje Mihailovic.

The roster features four veterans from the national team who played in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup: Zimmerman, Mihailovic, Gianluca Busio, and Gabriel Slonina. Zimmerman is the only player on the current roster who also represented the United States at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Among the players, 19-year-old Benjamin Cremaschi stands out as the youngest member of the team. The Inter Miami star, who was also eligible to represent Argentina, will be eligible for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as well. Goalkeepers Patrick Schulte and Gabriel Slonina will compete for the starting position in net, with Schulte having won the 2023 MLS Cup with Columbus and Slonina having led the under-20 team to the quarterfinals at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Notable absences from the roster include goalkeeper Chris Brady, and midfielders Brian Gutiérrez and Diego Luna. According to MLS and USMNT insider Tom Bogert, Luna declined the request to serve as an alternate for the Olympic roster.

This marks a significant opportunity for the United States men’s Olympic team to medal for the first time. The team last qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics but was eliminated in the group stage. The best finish for the US men’s soccer team at the Olympics came in the 2000 Sydney Games, where they placed fourth. Now, with a blend of young talent and experienced players, the team aims to achieve a historic podium finish at the Paris Olympics.
